Metinvest International is compliant with new Swiss legal requirements of Corporate Governance

To comply with the new Swiss legal requirements of Corporate Governance enforceable since January 1st, 2008, Metinvest International proactively launched, back in November 2006, a Corporate Governance Program (COGO).

The successfully implemented Corporate Governance Philosophy is based on following pillars:

  • A formalized and sustainableSystem of Internal Control ensuring the reliability of the Company’s financial reporting, both on the entity and functional level.
  • A customized Risk management tool guaranteeing the independent and consistent identification and assessment of the risks that may impact the achievement of the Company’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Sound, open and transparently communicated corporate values and business principles.

“As an international steel trading company with long lasting business relationship with customers and partners, we consider that a sound Corporate Governance Program can be also a very effective tool to maintain our Company’s reputation on the markets and to safeguard the interests of its stakeholders” said Vicken Bayramian, Senior Legal Counsel and initiator of the program.

In this sense, the COGO Program has also been actively communicated and shared with the business partners as a critical element helping to continuously improve company’s operational efficiency and secure its long term prosperity.

“Thanks to the involvement of everyone at all levels of the company, the COGO Program was successfully implemented. For this reason, Metinvest International’s commitment to sound Corporate Governance will remain an essential cornerstone of our corporate philosophy” said with enthusiasm Marian Maksymovych, new CFO of Metinvest International.
